The phenomena of Cs sorption in soil as well as the main factors affecting K-d value were investigated in this study. Ion exchange/chemical sorption dominated the Cs sorption in soil components, and the reaction was found to be exothermic. Cesium could be desorbed by ion exchange in soil, but it is not easily desorbed in deionized water. The pH range of groundwater did not affect the sorption on soil components. The K-d value would increase slightly with a higher liquid-solid ratio. In equilibrium, the Cs concentration in soil solution is a function of the liquid-solid ratio.
