CHARACTERIZATION OF BACTERIOPHAGE PARASITIZING ON XANTHOMONAS-CAMPESTRIS PV VITICOLA

A bacteriophage designated as XCVCP1 was isolated from the grapevine infected with X. campestris pv. viticola. The phage has a polyhedral head (60 nm diam) and short tail (90 nm length). Lytic cycle of phage was 3.5 hr and thermal inactivation point 80-degrees-C. The phage was used for the rapid diagnosis of disease.
