摘要：
The valorization of clothes in documents maintained in public and private collections is a highly fruitful source in historical narratives. The present text aims to contribute with historiographical, theoretical, and methodological supports which instrumentalize the use of clothes and/or costumes as a manner of explaining history. The text starts differentiating and defining the concept of clothes and fashion in history; further, these concepts are situated in historiography; and, finally, we underscore the possibilities of approaches to the document-clothes in press archives, private and public collections, including museums.
