摘要
Electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) was used to form images showing the distribution of electrochemical activity at microheterogeneous electrode surfaces. ECL was generated by the reaction of luminol, rubrene, or Ru(bpy)//3**2** plus at carbon electrodes. Images of the luminescence patterns were recorded photographically after sufficient magnification to show the location, size, and shape of individual active regions. Epoxy-impregnated reticulated vitreous carbon electrodes served as test electrodes, since they possess active regions that are visible under magnification and external illumination.
