THE ATTITUDE TOWARDS NATURE, AND INCIDENCE OF SEXUAL INTIMACY AMONG STUDENTS AT A SOUTH-AFRICAN UNIVERSITY

The research focuses on sexual attitudes and practice at a university in a politically and socially changing South Africa. The subjects were a representative sample of students (n = 139). Results indicate a relatively low occurrence of sexual intercourse al rd promiscuity. A very high percentage of subjects regard themselves as heterosexual and as morally and religiously conservative. Due to ignorance the dangers of contracting AIDS did not feature strongly in the precautionary measures of the sexually active subjects.
