Familiar and textual memory in Milton Hatoum's fiction

This article intends to reflect about the relations between the short story entitled A natureza ri da cultura, from A cidade ilhada, and the novel Relato de um certo Oriente - both texts written by Milton Hatoum-, trying to avail the way familiar memory, as developed by the novel, is manifested, in the short-story, as textual subject representing the tensions found in the familiar context, distinguishing the writer's fiction.
