ABSOLUTE CALIBRATION OF A FLAME PHOTOMETRIC DETECTOR TO VOLATILE SULFUR COMPOUNDS AT SUB-PART-PER-MILLION LEVELS

Permeation tubes were used to obtain an absolute calibration of a flame photometric detector (FPD) to sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, and carbondisulfide. Response data was obtained from 0.001 to 10 p.p.m. for each compound. Preliminary experiments with the FPD as anambient air sulfur dioxide monitor indicated that the detector has potential utility as a continuous monitoring device. © 1969, American Chemical Society.
