摘要
The performance of cw passively mode locked dye lasers as a function of intracavity group velocity dispersion has been analysed theoretically and experimentally. Reproducible trends in the temporal and spectral behaviour have been observed which are reminiscent of manifestations of soliton evolutions. Analysis of the numerical simulation, however, shows the periodic pulse evolutions to result from a combination of frequency chirp and spectral walk-off. The deleterious role of the frequency chirp arising from the time-dependent saturation of the absorber is discussed. © 1990.
