摘要
Since last century, several scholars have dedicated themselves to comparative analysis of Cicero and Augustine, showing through several articles, dissertations and theses the differences and similarities between these authors. Obviously, as can be seen through the various direct and indirect citations that the bishop of Hippo makes of the Roman orator, Cicero is one of his major influences, especially in relation to rhetoric. Following a comparative trend and having as corpus of analysis Cicero's De oratore and St. Augustine's De doctrina christiana, it is intended to analyze the criticism of the manuals/rhetorical precepts built by both authors.
