GLOBAL PROSPECTS FOR UNITED-NATIONS

To be sure, the United Nations has disappointed incipient hopes that it would provide and enforce a master plan for universal security and the creation of peace. But it does serve useful functions in promoting international stability. It may therefore interest the readers of this journal how the Secretary General of the United Nations Organization, Boutros Boutros-Ghali, has defined this role when he addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on 26 January 1995.
