摘要
STI in the different countries is synonymous of control of the HIV epidemic. In Peru, interventions have been conducted through regular medical care (RMC) to reduce STI in sex workers (SW), which allows for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of STIs enabling the timely intervention in the control. The design was not experimental, cross-sectional, assessing SW who attended the AMP at the CERETS Health Center San Juan from January 2004 to December 2006, collecting information from medical records PROCETSS is validated by the Ministry of Health. 218 SW were evaluated; the STI prevalence was 10.5 per 100 controls. STI prevalence was lower in the control group (p = 0.0021), for those 22 years old and older (p = 0,001), for those with higher education levels (p = 0.000), with a stable partner (p = 0.000), those that work in authorized places (p = 0.0000) and those with 5 or more years of sexual work (p = 0.000). The MPA CERETS Health Center, San Juan Iquitos, aimed at SW is an effective intervention program which reduces the risk and prevalence of STI.
