摘要
Field equations of nonlocal elastic solids are employed to determine the stress fields and the elastic energy for an edge dislocation in the basal plane. Classical stress and energy singularities are not present in nonlocal solutions. Stress distribution is calculated and maximum shear stress is given for various hexagonal materials. Theoretical shear stress to initiate a dislocation having a Burger's vector of one atomic distance is calculated and is in the acceptable range known from lattice dynamic calculations.
