The control valve industry has changed dramatically in the past ten years. Before 1970, only a few manufacturers made throttling control valves, and changes in valve designs often took years. In recent years, however, rapid progress has been made in several areas. Design improvements, technological innovations, increased participation by several new manufacturers, and government involvement have all contributed to a ″New Look″ for the valve industry. This article examines a few recent design improvements, and reviews valve trends over the past ten years.
