ESR AND TL CHARACTERISTICS IN X-IRRADIATED BAMG(SO4)2-LN (LN=LA, EU) CRYSTALS

摘要
ESR and TL phenomena were investigated on the X-irradiated Ln(Ln = La, Eu)-doped BaMg(S0) crystals prepared by two kinds of methods as follows; sample (A) was prepared by the reaction between BaMg(S0) crystal and Ln(S0) powder, and sample (B) by the reaction among BaS0, MgS0 and Ln(S0) powders. The ESR signal intensity of the samples (A) and (B) had a maximum in a certain amount doped with La, but decreased monotonously with the amount doped with Eu. The behaviour of the TL intensity was contrast to that of the ESR signal intensity. That is, a maximum TL intensity was observed in the samples doped with Eu, but little influence of doping with La on the TL phenomenon was observed. Such effects of doping on the ESR and the TL phenomena were more significant in sample (B) than in sample (A). These results were discussed on the basis of the physico-chemical characteristics (e.g. thermal stability, charge compensation etc.) in the sample. © 1990, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
