摘要
Because of the importance of nitrogen in steelmaking, the coefficient of diffusion (D) of nitrogen in liquid iron was determined by the capillary reservoir method at 1550 to 1680 C. Possible errors introduced by the methods of diffusion measurements are dealt with in detail. D for 1600 C is given as (0. 92 plus or minus 0. 10) multiplied by 10** minus **4 cm**2/sec, the relation between diffusion coefficients and temperature as log D equals minus 3800/T minus 2. 01 cm**2/sec. , and the activation energy of the Arrhenius equation as 17. 5 kcal/mol.
