摘要
Temperature dependence of the magneto-optic effect, i.e., magnetic-circular-dichroism (MCD) spectra, of metastable zinc-blende MnTe films has been investigated. MCD peaks from the GAMMA point of the Brillouin zone as well as from the Mn d-d intra-atomic tranistions were observed. Below 70 K the energy of the GAMMA peak showed a distinct magnetic blueshift accompanying a rapid increase of the MCD intensity. These anomalies reflect the first-order phase transition into the type-III antiferromagnetic-ordering state of a frustrated Heisenberg antiferromagnet. In the antiferromagnetic-ordering state, a larger magneto-optic effects as compared with that in the paramagnetic state was observed. This large magneto-optic effect in the antiferromagnetic-ordering state is related with the sharpening of the optical-absorption spectra.
