The growth rate of mixed leukocyte cultures has been employed as a method for judging histoincompatibility. A model of the growth of cells in mixed cultures is proposed, and a previously described quantitative measure of relatedness is suggested as a criterion for predicting histocompatibility. Estimates of these parameters calculated from experimental observations fell into three distinct classes, consistent with a hypothetical pattern of phenotypic differences among the seven donors. © 1969 by The Williams and Wilkins Co.
