摘要
The paper deals with certain characteristics of polarized housings, mainly with their ability to screen from magneto- and electrostatic fields. It contains a new solution to that problem and an analysis of the effectiveness of screening as a function of the shape of the housing, its relative thickness and the characteristics of polarization (mu or epsilon) of the material. The formulae, derived for thin housings (in order to calculate the effectiveness of screening), may be applied to other types, and the limiting thickness of a housing is determined. The new method of evaluation of the effectiveness of screening is intended for housings with an elongated spheroidal or a three-axis ellipsoidal shape. The method is based on calculation of the screening for spherical housings and for infinitely long circular cylinders, as well as for compressed spheroids and for infinitely long elliptical cylinders.
