摘要
Discusses aspects of the relationship between economic and political reform in China, arguing that many Western proposals for radical reform are simplistic and misleading. The author believes that the pressures for political reform, generated by emerging social and economic pluralism, are ineluctable, but questions whether democracy is fundamentally conducive to developmental success. Some elements of a possible political accommodation are outlined. -M.Amos
