摘要：

The current state of healthcare is neither sustainable nor functional. It is time for a complete paradigm shift. Health policy makers are recognizing more and more that collaborative practice, combined with patient & family-centered care is the game-changer that will facilitate a transformation in healthcare delivery. This paper considers the "Why" of healthcare and introduces the concept of a virtual patient as a means of engaging staff on a personal level both individually and collaboratively with the intention of healthcare transformation and achieving excellence for patients and their families.
