Screening for Poverty and Poverty-Related Social Determinants of Health

• On the basis of strong research evidence, poverty-related social determinants of health have a deleterious effect on children’s health. (3)(7)(8) • On the basis of some research evidence as well as consensus, pediatricians are encouraged to screen for poverty and poverty-related social determinants of health. (10) • On the basis of strong research evidence, several effective interventions have been established that pediatricians may adopt in their practices to address poverty and poverty-related social determinants of health.
