PREPARATION OF LAB6 SINGLE-CRYSTALS BY THE TRAVELING SOLVENT FLOATING ZONE METHOD

摘要
Single crystals of LaB6 were prepared using the RF heated floating zone method. The growth temperature was decreased by increasing the lanthanum content in the molten zone. Subgrain boundaries were hardly observed in the crystal when the zone composition was B/La = 3.6. The growth temperature was estimated to be 200-degrees-C lower than the melting point of LaB6 (2715-degrees-C).
