The origins of cultural tourism in Mallorca Cathedral (1905-1936)

摘要
This text aims to investigate how the Cathedral of Mallorca adapted to the new situation provoked by the emergence of mass tourism, basing on the documentation process and the analysis of its reception through tourist guides, photographs and the creation and development of the Chapterhouse Museum. Until the tourism disruption caused by the Civil War, we can distinguish two stages: a first one, which started in late 1905, characterised by the founding of the museum, and second one, marked by consolidation and development, occurred in the 1930s. The latter was a period of genuine tourism advertising in which the first tourist guides were published in several languages and the exhibition area was renewed.
