Fiberboard panels of 35 and 42 pounds per cubic foot density were made from pressure-refined fiber from total tree hardwood chips. Face and edge withdrawal tests of wood screws and threaded metal inserts were conducted with and without polyvinyl acetate glue in the lead holes. Various joining techniques were simulated with box-type specimens made with dowels, dovetails, wood screws, or metal inserts and tested in tension.
