摘要
Vanadium and C-C composites are high temperature materials that are being considered for use in fusion reactor components because of their resistance to activation by radiation. In this research, the joining of vanadium (V) and C-C composites to stainless steel (SS) by resistance heat brazing was investigated. Results showed that brazing filler alloys BCu-1, BAg-4, SS40Ni5 and BNi-7 have good wettability in bath vanadium and stainless steel. V-SS joints brazed by BNi-7 were brittle. Sound and ductile V-SS joints were obtained by using BCu-1 filler metal. Finite element analyses were used to predict residual stress distributions in the joints. The use of interlayers was found to reduce residual stresses in the high strength C-C composite to SS joints.
