This note argues that the non-observation of the decay Z --> pi0gamma does not really reflect the failure of the PCAC technique which has recently been extended to this decay by Jacob and Wu. It also explains in a model-independent way why the PCAC method turns out to be successful in the decay pi0 --> 2gamma, whereas the same method apparently fails in the decay Z --> pi0gamma.
