摘要
The application of Moringa oleifera in research, testing and analysis has been gaining space. The present work searches through this scientific research to point out a new form of water treatment, using Moringa oleifera, as a natural coagulant. To use the seed as a coagulant, a milky solution extracted there from was prepared, which was the medium used to guarantee the process. Several studies indicate that the products produced by this plant, bring various health and industry benefits, be it biochemistry, food and biofuel. Another great importance of Moringa oleifera is its application in the water treatment process, being a sustainable, economical, viable and easily accessible alternative, mainly to the Brazilian semi-arid region, where the plant is most abundant. Its process of coagulation and flocculation is due to the fact that it has a cathodic protein, with a high molecular weight that destabilizes the particles present in the water and flocs the colloids. Moringa oleifera drastically reduces the number of suspended particles and also reduces the amount of microorganisms. The seed has coagulating agents that help in the removal of turbidity, color and coliforms present in the water, besides not changing the pH of the same.
