The molecular and crystal structures of (22R,24R)-3 beta-acetoxy-5 alpha,6 alpha-epoxy-24-methyl-cholestan-22,24-diol, an intermediate in the synthesis of a new natural pentol from Asterospecularia randalli, was determined by X-ray analysis: monoclynic crystals, space group P2(1) with a = 13.838(2), b = 7.542(3), c = 13.867(4) Angstrom; (22R,24R) configuration.
