摘要
1. 1. The presence of 2.5 mmoles/1 of stable Zn2+ increases the uptake of 85Sr2+ and 133Ba2+ by bone powder and by anorganic bone from solutions that contain these radioisotopes in tracer quantities, whereas the presence of stable Ca2+ or Ba2+ decreases uptake. The presence of stable Ca2+ or Ba2+ does not appreciably affect the uptake of tracer quantities of 65Zn2+. 2. 2. The results support the hypothesis that Zn2+ distorts the surface of the crystals of bone mineral and thus facilities the replacement of Ca2+ by larger alkaline earth ions. The effect is found when tracer amounts of the alkaline earth ions are used but not when the concentrations of these ions are of the order of 2.5 mmoles/l. © 1969.
