The historiographical analysis of the prison in Argentina around the turn of the century (1890-920): the need for a local and comparative history. Methodological contributions for a history in construction

The purpose of this article is indicated the convenience of the utilization of some instrumental categories of the local history and of the comparative history as method to analyze the history of the prison in the Argentina between 1890/ 1920. For the achievement of such an aim, we will analyze the production historiographical developed in respect of the State penitentiary of Buenos Aires and of some provincial or territorial spaces, to demonstrate the different realities. Then highlight the importance in the use of the methods of those disciplines in order to achieve a more complete and suitable comprehension of the history of the prison question in our country, which allows to perceive the shades and existing differences.
