RECTIFICATION OF MULTICOMPONENT SYSTEMS .2. RESIDUAL CURVE MAPS

In this second paper of the serie, the application of methods to predicte vapor-liquid equilibria in the calculation of residual curve maps and their interest as a tool in the study of azeotropic or extractive distillation systems and in the selection of entrainers for different homogeneous mixtures, is studied. Different separation sequences are presented, studying the importance of diverse variables, such as the recirculation composition, feed, reflux and pressure. Diverse aspects related to the topology of the residual curve maps were also analyzed, such as the application of residual vapor separatrices and rectification profile intersections.
