摘要
High multiplication rates during plant micropropagation permit us to extend the autoselection theory developed for microalgae to plants. On organic media, the plants grow in vitro mostly as heterotrophs. The appropriate calculations show that recurrent multiplication by cuttings leads to the selection of plants best adapted to heterotrophic conditions with a concomitant decrease in their autotrophic growth. These trends become evident after only 10 to 15 generations. Fully phototrophic micropropagation has some essential advantages in comparison to heterotrophic plant culturing. A description of a special installation for micropropagation under phototrophic conditions is presented, and the results of potato micropropagation in vitro are discussed.
