The aim of this study is to identify the key success factors in risk assessment and management of petrol filling stations in the West of Iran. This study is an applied research based on the result or objective, while it is seen as exploratory and descriptive research according to methodology and a surveying one in terms of data collection. The study population includes petrol filling stations in the West of Iran. The industrial safety managers and experts of these stations have chosen as the unit of statistical analysis. Cochran formula has been used to determine the sample size. After calculating, 376 subjects gave been considered as the sample by randomly selection. Library and field methods have been used in this study to collect data and information. To collect the required data and information, procedures such as interviews, open questionnaire and self-made questionnaire have been employed. Content validity and convergence validity have been used to investigate the study questionnaire validity. The Cronbach's alpha and composite reliability have been used to assess the study questionnaire reliability. In this study, the primary components effective in risk assessing and managing of the filling stations have been studied. Then, through the exploratory factor analysis, the effective factors have been identified. The effectiveness of each of these factors has been determined by confirmatory factor analysis technique. The study results show that six factors of "mechanical facilities safety", "Safety of buildings and station structure", "safety of electrical installations, "fire equipment", "alarm system" and "protective factors" have been identified as key effective factors in risk assessment and management of gasoline filling stations. The results indicate that all factors identified can be considered in influencing and predicting the variance of risk assessment and management of petrol filling stations.
