摘要：
An all encompassing treatise on surgical procedures of the upper airway would require more space than is available in this forum. It is the authors' intention therefore, to concentrate on those procedures which are designed specifically to alleviate obstruction of the upper airway. The Anaesthetist and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon often find themselves sharing an airway during the course of these procedures and this in itself gives rise to specific problems for both parties. For this reason it is essential for each to have adequate knowledge of the other's activities.
