摘要
Indroduction: Evaluation of histopathological results of Transrectal Ultrasonography-guided prostate biopsies between Prostate Spesific Antigen (PSA) values. Materials and Methods: From July 2004 to February 2005 who underwent Transrectal Ultrasonography-guided prostate biopsy were included in this study. Cases were divided into 3 groups according to their PSA values: Group 1 (n=88; 64%; PSA: 3.7-10.0 ng/ml), group 2 (n=30; 22%; PSA: 10.0-16.0 ng/ml), group 3 (n= 18; 14%; PSA: higher than 16 ng/ml). Histopathological results correlated with PSA values. Results: Histopathological results were low grade PIN, high grade PIN and adenocarsinoma. 14% of group 1, 17% of group 2 and 100% of group 3 had adenocarsinoma histopathologically. Conclusion: Adenocarsinoma showed significant differences about 7 times when compared with those of PSA values up to 10.0 ng/ml and over 16.0 ng/ml. However there was not significant difference with regard to PSA values between group 1 and group 2.
