摘要
The use of polypropylenes (PPs) as hot-melt adhesives (HMAs) for wood was investigated, and their gluabilities and the durabilities were evaluated. PP modified with maleic anhydride (MPP) had a satisfactory waterproof gluability. This is because of enhanced adhesion caused by the occurrence of esterification between the hydroxyl groups of the wood and the acid anhydride groups of the MPP during hot-pressing. Consequently, it became evident that MPP is very suitable for wood as a HMA.
