摘要
In this paper we analyse the creole identity through the literary style and aesthetics of Ernest Pepin's novel: L'Homme-au-Baton. The work is organised in three parts: firstly, we circumscribe the reality of the French contemporary Caribbean literature and its various movements; secondly, we study the main features of the language used by E. Pepin and the importance of creole in his text: the fluctuation and contact between both ways of expression due to diglossy phenomenon. We'll see how creolite innovates Caribbean literature written in french. The need to integrate social issues into literature as well as a reflection on cultural ethnic or national identity led us to analyse in a third part how E. Pepin seeks for origins. That is the reason why we intend to understand the Caribbean people's gaze watching France in a dialectic of clash and synthesis which feeds culture and constitutes History itself.
