Breast cancer during pregnancy is uncommon. This association raises questions on the management of the mother and the safety of the fetus. The first trimester of pregnancy is the most critical period, in which severe fetal damage can occur, causing miscarriage or sublethal damage leading to malformations, teratogenesis, mutations, carcinogenesis, toxicity of organs or mental retardation. We discuss our experience of five cases of breast cancer during pregnancy and the possible impact of chemotherapy agents. We conclude that there is no evidence of a risk of teratogenesis.
