We report a 45 yeard-old man who received a renal transplantation 30 months ago under immunosuppressive therapy with cyclosporin A, azathioprine and prednisone. Allopurinol was started because of hyperuricemia with gouty crisis, and a proportional decrease of azathioprine dose was not implemented. Two months later the patient developed pancytopenia secondary to medullary hypoplasia. We describe the rapid recovery of neotrophil blood count under treatment with granulycyte-colony-stimulating factor. No infectious complication was detected throughout the follow-up.
