GRAVITATIONAL ATTRACTION OF A RECTANGULAR PRISM WITH DEPTH-DEPENDENT DENSITY

摘要
A new method to compute the gravity effect produced by a vertical rectangular prism with density varying as a function of depth is proposed. The solution to the forward two and three-dimensional problems is achieved by combining analytical and numerical methods of integration. As a special case of this general formulation, a density contrast decreasing exponentially with depth can be easily handled. An iterative method of inversion for interpreting a gravity anomaly profile across the San Jacinto graben, California is described. -from Author
