Differentiation in experimental work in non-formal learning environments

摘要
The challenge to respond to growing heterogeneity among students is not only a task for schools, since education is suggested to take place more thoroughly in the cooperation of schools with out-of-school learning environments. Thus, non-formal education providers in science education need to find answers whether and how they intend to deal with the growing heterogeneity. In this article, we describe approaches towards differentiation for very heterogeneous learning groups when visiting an out-of-school experimental learning environment (Schulerlabor). A differentiation model and corresponding measures are described. Findings from the evaluation indicate that the model works and that the implemented methods, e.g., comic-based experimental instructions or cue cards, are well appreciated by the learners.
