摘要：

Changes under discussion of the Chilean higher education system's governance are herein analyzed. The following questions are addressed: Which is the major challenge that Chile faces in reorganizing the governance of its higher education system? What principles should guide the future governance scheme? Which are the functions and mechanisms of a governance structure and how will they be modified? What recommendations can be formulated to orient the current debates on a new governance for Chilean tertiary education?
