RISKS OF CADMIUM OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE

Since ancient times, the relationship between occupational exposure and the onset of disease is known. The description of the inhalation of dust in the workplace as a causative agent of respiratory symptoms and lung diseases has 460 to date. C., made by Hippocrates. Data from the International Labour Organization in 2005 suggest that hazardous substances kill about 480,000 workers annually. It is estimated that 10% of skin cancers are caused by exposure to hazardous substances in the workplace. This work aims to address the main problems associated with cadmium exposure in workers. For this, a report are made to some accidents involving metal workers and finally discusses ways to improve working conditions, minimizing the risk of occupational contamination.
