Several diagrams of ground particle motion of Sg and Pg waves have been obtained in order to study the characteristics of the movement of these waves on the Earth's surface. Apart from some isolated instances, most of the observations suggest that the apparent ground motion of the Sg wave is of SV‐type, counter‐clockwise on the horizontal plane and prograde on that of incidence, showing an apparent incidence angle smaller than 30 degrees. The Pg motion seems to be transverse on the incidence plane. An approximate value of the attenuation of the Sg waves has been also obtained. Copyright © 1969, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved
