摘要：

Prevalence and mortality in acute renal dysfunction patients are high, especially among hospitalized patients. Absolute values and changes in basal serum creatinine have traditionally been used for its categorization and diagnosis. Heterogeneity among multiple parameters that have used this metabolite and several limitations in its interpretation have promoted the development of new guides and focused efforts in the identification of new markers for a better categorization of the disease. This is a review on the diagnostic approach of the syndrome.
