INFLUENCE OF SPIN AND PHASE EFFECTS ON OVERLAP FUNCTION IN REACTION PI+P -]P+P

Overlap functions have been calculated for the reaction π+p → ρ{variant}+p at 8 GeV/c. In the calculations the experimental differential cross section has been supplemented by a model dependent description of spin and phase phenomena. The inclusion of these phenomena considerably increased the slope of the overlap function which became steeper than the total inelastic overlap function determined from elastic scattering. For all tested models (peripheral, absorption and Regge) the angular momenta are much higher than those computed with spin and phase effects being neglected. © 1969.
