FIELD-INDUCED TRANSITION IN THE HEAVY FERMION COMPOUND-CECU2

We have measured the specific heat of CeCu2 under magnetic fields up to 6 T in the temperature range between 0.7-16 K. When the magnetic field applied to the b-axis, it gives almost no effect on the specific heat peak up to 6 T. Above 2 T applied along the c-axis, however, a new specific heat peak appears in addition to the peak at 3.5 K. The new field-induced peak shifts to high temperature as growing up the intensity with increasing magnetic fields. We also found a change of the specific heat, which is corresponding to the metamagnetic transition at 2 T observed in the measurement of the magnetization along the a-axis.
