摘要
The paper deals with biochemistry of two polypeptides, insulin-like growth factor-I and II (IGF-I and IGF-II). IGF-I and IGF-II are polypeptides structurally similar to each other as well as to insulin. The IGFs and insulin elicit similar biological responses (e.g. stimulation of DNA synthesis, cell differentiation, stimulation of glucose metabolism). In this paper the structure, receptors, biological effects and IGF-binding proteins of IGF-I and II are discussed in detail.
