DEVELOPMENT OF A VAPOR-PRESSURE EQUATION FOR METHANOL

A new vapour pressure equation for methanol is presented which covers the full range from the triple point to the critical point (175-512.6 K). Multiproperty fitting was used which included liquid heat capacity data near the triple point as well as vapour pressure data from around 10 kPa upwards. During the development, two forms of equation were compared; both were fitted to the same set of weighted data using the same selection algorithm to determine the number and value of the coefficients. The final equation required only 4 coefficients to represent the best data to within the experimental accuracy.
