THEORETICAL-STUDY OF THE SPECTROSCOPY OF ZRO

Theoretical results are presented for the band systems involving the lowest six singlet and triplet states of ZrO, with radiative lifetimes for the lowest vibrational level of the B 1Π, C 1Σ+, E 1Φ, b 3Π, d 3Φ, e 3Π, and f 3Δ states. The calculated lifetime for the C1Σ+ state is in excellent agreement with a recent experimental value, and the calculated lifetimes for the B1Π and e3Π states are just slightly less than those deduced from laser-induced fluorescence studies. However, the transition probabilities for the γ(d 3Φ-a 3Δ) and the B 1Π-X 1+ systems are substantially less than the values deduced from emission studies on the basis of comparison with the β system. Theoretical Einstein coefficients are presented for the strong transitions, including the E 1Φ-A 1Δ transition that has not yet been observed.
